The Game Theory...

I have seen a book which was quite interesting to me...It was called the game theory.

Plzzzzzz be aware that I am not talking about video games or computer games. This is a serious and boring post...(ZZZ)

What is called Game theory? To sum up, it is a law or a philosophy to help you to get the biggest payoff in a game. It attempts to mathematically capture human behavior in strategic situations, in which an individual's success in making choices depends on the choices of others.

ZZZ(All people should be sleeping now), btw.The game theory is a philosophy used in biology and economic and also computer science

ZZZZ(what it have to do with me, I am bio or engine student)...wait...

I would like to introduce a situation that is concerned to Game Theory...The Prisoners Dilemma

Two suspects, CJ and Hafidz, are arrested by the police because of stealing JK's laptop. The JPKC have insufficient evidence for a conviction, and, having separated both CJ and Hafidz, offer a deal for both of them.

If one agrees for the prosecution against the other and the other remains silent, the betrayer will pay nothing and the silent accomplice will be fined $500.

If both remain silent, both of them are fined to only $50 each

If each betrays the other, In other words, both of them agrees the prosecution against one another, each are fined $2oo.

Each people must make the choice of whether to betray the other or to remain silent.

However, neither Hafidz or Cj knows for sure what choice the other will make. So this dilemma poses the question: How should the prisoners act?

Assume that CJ and Hafidz did not want to pay much for stealing JK's laptop and they only care for themselves. Their choices are either silent or betray one another. Lets guess, what should CJ and Hafidz do?

The situation can be summarized as this...

	If Hafidz Stays Silent	If Hafidz Betrays
CJ Stays Silent	Each pay 50	CJ pay $500 Hafidz goes free
CJ Betrays	CJ is Free Hafidz pay RM500	Each Pay 200

Assume I am Hafidz, I will be thinking like this.....

If Cj choose to become silent, then I should betray because I will have no need to pay anything.

If Cj choose to betray me, then I should betray him also because I will pay lesser and If I choose to remain silent, I will pay more

Then no matter what CJ do, I should betray him...

Similarly CJ might think about the same thing too and in the end both betray each other and both pay $200 in the end.

However, there is a choice. If both of them choose to remain silent, in other words, cooperate, they might need to pay lesser, in this case both of them need to pay 50 only compared to 200.


However, Hafidz and CJ cannot communicate with each other( and they can't use handphone or telepathy) . If one of them choose to remain silent there might be a risk of others betraying you and you will ended paying more.

What will you if you are the unlucky CJ or Hafidz? Betray or silent?
